Price to Pay to Fly Ryan Air: Your Pride
A couple of days ago I did something I've ALWAYS wanted to do: I hopped on a plane without any luggage for a quick weekend getaway.
Destination: Paris.
Reason: To join my family (my niece was in a dance performance at the Chatelet Theatre).
Cost: Dirt Cheap, ala Ryan Air.
I just tucked a toothbrush and a change of clothes into my handbag and was off.
As it is, this is the ONLY way to travel on good ole Ryan Air, which might charge you only 10 dollars for your ticket, but will charge 50 to breathe the air.
And if your carry-on doesn't fit into that metal container at the gate--even tho it fit in the metal container at check-in--you might have to take to donning all of your clothes, as this Frenchman did. I won't soon forget the sight of his flowing robe as he made his way across the tarmac, dragging his then near empty carry-on behind him.

View of Hainburg
I had to rely on the train when my car was in the shop not too long ago.
Here's a quick look out the train window, looking at pretty Hainburg. (FB viewers, click "View Original Post" to see video)

WSJ ViennaFair Backstory
I wrote about it in the Wall Street Journal this weekend.
Had a great email yesterday morning from one of the Romanian gallery owners featured in the piece. He wrote me that a Parisian art collector called him, said she'd read my article on the plane en route to an exhibit in Munich, and had decided to head to Vienna next so she could attend this exhibit. He was thrilled.
